Back-of-House (BOH) Team Member [Food Prep]

Food prep staff will prepare ingredients for recipes and perform other routine food preparation duties to assist cooks, other kitchen and catering staff.  Staff will assist in maintaining a clean and orderly kitchen by washing dishes, sanitizing surfaces, taking out trash etc.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Follow recipes and procedures as prescribed.  Prepare food properly.
• Apply knowledge of station set-up, prep, and break-down.
• Label and rotate all food properly via FIFO.
• Maintain food safety and quality standards.
• Understand and apply proper HCCAP steps/procedures.
• Communicate food time delays and product issues to the appropriate manager.
• Understand and follow allergy-related food issues.
• Be able to inventory and write station prep list before and after shift.
• Maintain a clean and orderly work environment.
• Comply with all safety and sanitation rules.
• Keep area stocked, clean and looking crisp.
• Ability to be organized and multi-task calmly and effectively in a busy and sometimes hectic and stressful environment.
• Ability to effectively communicate in spoken and written form in order to perform/follow position requirements.
• Arrive on-time for scheduled shifts.
• Understand MSDS sheets and cleaning procedures.
• Read and understand staff handbook and follow procedures/policies accordingly.
• Be a team player.  Attend Isabel’s Market + Eatery team meetings, when applicable and necessary.

Physical Demands

• Ability to stand/walk for an entire shift and move safely and cautiously throughout the Isabel’s space.
• Constant walking, bending, reaching and repetitive motions
• Ability to lift and move up to 40 pounds (i.e., stocking shelves).
• Work positively in a sometimes confined space with varying temperature levels.
• Safely and effectively operate all tools and equipment (grills, ovens, slicer, etc.).

 
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to move around the facility; to stand for long hours during events; talk and hear. This position may require work inside or outside of the building, as needed by events.
 
Education and/or Experience

• High School Diploma or equivalent required, or working toward completion thereof.
• Previous and related kitchen production experience (1-2 years) preferred.
• Strong communication skills, written and verbal.
• Professional attitude and appearance.
• Ability to operate multiple computer programs and office equipment, including POS.

Schedule

• Part-time, approximately 25-35 hours/week.
• Available to work a variety of hours, shifts, including evenings and weekends.
• Weekly schedule may vary.

Compensation

• $10 – $12/hour depending on experience.
