Baker

We are pleased to announce this position has been filled.

The Baker oversees operations and related staffing, manages pastry making and baking, suggests changes to inventory and pricing, and purchases supplies when needed. The Bakery Manager will make day-to-day decisions and will have a thorough knowledge of bakery processes.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Oversee the complete set-up of the bakery, placement of items, storage of items, etc.
• Lead and direct daily operations, delivering consistency and an excellent product.
• Excellent customer service.
• Coordinate with owners on product selection, what to make/bake, and what to prepare and present first.
• Decide on labor matrix: who will prepare product each shift; organize and schedule production per shift.
• Responsible for turning in product order, inventory, and cost of items.  Submit ordering needs in a timely manner. 
• Train all other baking staff on proper recipe, techniques and procedures.
• Oversee baking and related catering orders and implement into production schedule.
• Maintain a clean and orderly work environment; keep area stocked, clean and looking crisp.
• Stock and arrange bakery display as needed.
• Ensure quality of breads and pastries.
• Suggest and create new recipes.
• Assure that timelines are met.
• Safely and effectively operate all tools and equipment (ovens, mixers, slicer, donut maker, etc.).
• Ability to be organized and multi-task calmly and effectively in a busy and sometimes hectic and stressful environment.
• Ability to effectively communicate in spoken and written form in order to perform/follow position requirements.

• Understand, maintain and comply will all food safety and quality standards.
• Understand Material Safety Data Sheets and cleaning procedures and comply with all safety and sanitation rules
• Read and understand staff handbook and follow procedures/policies accordingly.
• Be a team player.
• Attend Isabel’s Market + Eatery team meetings, when applicable and necessary.

 
Physical Requirements/Working Conditions

• Ability to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed. 

• Exposure to FDA approved cleaning chemicals.
• Ability to stand/walk for an entire shift and move safely and cautiously throughout the Isabel’s space.
• Work positively in a confined space with varying temperature levels.
• Ability to lift and move up to 40 pounds (i.e., stocking shelves).
• Ability to operate multiple computer programs and office equipment, including POS.

 
Education and/or Experience

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.

• 2-3 years in bakery management preferred.  
• Experience in production, scheduling, ordering, inventory, etc.
• Strong communication skills, written and verbal.
• Good time management skills.
• Professional attitude and appearance.

Schedule

• Full-time.
• Shift starts at 5:00 a.m.
• Weekly schedule may vary.

Compensation

• $14 – $16/hour, depending on experience.
